PHOTOS: Little Compton Fire Crews Knock Down Old Building For DEM
The department trained under heavy smoke conditions at a building in the Simmons Mill Pond Conservation Area this year.
The held two days of training this spring in an acquired building in the Simmons Mill Pond Conservation Area. Chief Richard Petrin said the building was burned down at the request of the Department of Environmental Management.
All the members of the department participated in the training. On the first day, the department used their acquired through a grant. Petrin said all training on the first day was performed under heavy smoke conditions.
"Day one consisted of mayday training, search and rescue, firefighter down, and emergency communications with the fire alarm office," he said. "Day two of training consisted of roof ventilation and live fire training."

Petrin noted that during the live training the department used Engine 2, which is equipped with a compressed air foam system.
Little Compton typically trained at the burn tower at the Fall River Fire Department, such as , but will now be arranging to train at the fire academy in Exeter.
