Little Compton Firefighters Union Continues Annual Phone, Calendar Drive

Members of the Little Compton Firefighters Association Local 3957 started their annual phone solicitation fundraising drive earlier this month, seeking donations from the public.

President Fred Melnyk said the drive started on Nov. 28 and will last at least a month. Portions of the proceeds will go toward the union, the Muscular Dystrophy Association and other organizations. The annual effort is similar to the boot drive.

Melnyk added that homeowners in the area should receive a call from a member of the union asking them for fundraising support. He said checks can be dropped off at the at 60 Simmons Road.

Pages in the 2012 calendar will have advertisements from local businesses, which are also being solicited during the fundraiser. Melnyk said calendars will be available at the station for free taking, as well at  and .
