Recently, Tiverton Youth Soccer player Alexander Nimiroski won the RI Superliga (http://www.thesuperliga.com/) skills competition, and will be honored at a banquet and on the field during a New England Revolution game on August 4th, 2013. The competition consisted of 4 skills: dribbling a soccer ball through gates for a fastest time, juggling the ball in the air as many times as possible, and shooting and passing through point targets. There were 4 regional competitions across Rhode Island, and a final competition with the best players from each region competing against one another. Alex had the most points in the State in the overall competition.
Alex plays for a team called the Tiverton Titans and is coached by Dan Raposo and Donnie Bouchard. The team is a great story; a group of players under the age of 8 played primarily against older boys (under 10) during the 2012-2013 season, and had a lot of success in regular season and tournament wins.
Tiverton Youth Soccer has a range of programs for both recreational and competitive players. Alex has had a love of the sport grow thanks to a lot of energetic and dedicated volunteers. We are lucky to be in a town where there is such a strong program.
