Tiverton Man who Shot Himself in Middle School Parking Lot Dies
Police said the man, a 32-year-old Tiverton resident, died Monday at the hospital.

The man who shot himself in the parking lot of J.H. Gaudet Middle School in Middletown on Sunday has succumbed to his injuries.
Middletown Police Lt. Jason Ryan said in a release that the victim, identified by police as a 32-year-old Tiverton man, was on life support at Rhode Island Hospital since Sunday and died Monday.
Ryan said police were dispatched to the school at around 11:17 a.m. for a report of a suicide. Officers arrived and found the victim slouched in the front seat of a van with a gunshot wound to his head.

Middletown fire and rescue responded and transported the victim to Newport Hospital. He was then transferred to Rhode Island Hospital where he was placed on life support.
The incident occurred near sports and recreational fields used by the school community and members of the public for walking and exercise.
