Man Without License Allegedly Tells Police He's An Illegal Alien

cited a man for speeding and driving without a license when he then reportedly admitted he was in the country illegally.

Paulo Melo, 38, of Fall River, MA was taken into custody at 8:06 p.m., Friday, June 8. He was charged with operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver's license.

Melo was reportedly found speeding on Crandall Road and was pulled over on Main Street. According to police, Melo admitted he did not have a license, nor had he ever applied. In speaking with him further, Melo allegedly said he was in the country illegally and that he had already been deported in 2005. Police said Melo was transported back to the station and processed and was then transferred to the Adult Correctional Institution in Cranston where Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents reportedly took him into custody.

Warrant arrest

Christopher Angolano, 22, of Scituate, was arrested at 4:57 p.m., Saturday, June 9. He was taken into custody on an arrest warrant for failure to appear for an arraignment. According to police, he was a passenger in a car that was pulled over for a motor vehicle infraction on Crandall Road. He was arrested, processed and transported to the ACI.

Syringes found in road

Officers responded to the Swamp Road area at 3:05 p.m., Friday, June 8, for a report of syringes in the road. Police found two syringes in the road, which were seized and properly disposed of.

Items missing from home

A Sakonnet Point Road resident entered police headquarters at 2:12 p.m., Saturday, June 9 to report items were missing from their home. They also stated there was no forced entry. A report was taken and the matter is under investigation.

Contraband found

Police responded to a Pottersville Road business at 7:45 a.m. on Tuesday, June 5 for a report of contraband on the ground. Police arrived and seized the item in question and it was returned to station for further investigation.

Lost license plate

An East Main Road resident reported at 7:21 p.m., Wednesday, June 6, losing his license plate off his motor vehicle. A report was taken.

Stolen bike

A parent reported at 3:22 p.m., Thursday, June 6. that their child's bicycle was stolen from the front of .
