Meet The Tiverton High School Top 10: David Perry and Micaela Barcelou

The following information is supplied from :

#1. David A. Perry, class valedictorian, is the son of Cynthia and Louis Perry of Tiverton, RI. He is a member of the National Honor Society, representing Scholarship, and the RI Honor Society. He is the recipient of the Rensselaer Medal Award, Outstanding Junior Social Studies Student, Society of Women Engineers Award, Golden Sneaker Award from the Friends of Tiverton Libraries, William Goodman Scholarship, Principal’s Award, Outstanding English Student, American Mathematical Society Award, Outstanding Spanish Student, and an NEA Scholarship.  He was the recipient of the Certificate of Honor designating him as a Rhode Island Scholar by the Governor of RI and also recognized by the RI Higher Education Assistance Authority for outstanding achievement on his SAT scores. David served on the NEASC Committee, and was a Lab Technician. He has done volunteer work for the Tiverton Essex Library and Holy Ghost Church. He attended the Hugh O’Brien Youth Leadership Seminar and the Junior Leadership Conference at Providence College. David will attend Brown University in Providence, RI.

#2. Micaela Barcelou, class salutatorian, is the daughter of Michele and Bruce Barcelou of Tiverton, RI. She is a member of the National Honor Society and RI Honor Society. She is also a member of the Math Team, Anime Club, Bridge Building, and Student Council. Micaela was recognized by the RI Higher Education Assistance Authority for outstanding achievement on her SAT scores. She is the recipient of the St. Anne’s Credit Union Scholarship, and is the 2012 Outstanding Math Student with the highest average. She has volunteered for PawsWatch. Micaela will attend majoring in Architecture.
