Name the New Tiverton Library After Yourself for $1 Million
The library will open its doors to the public some time in May or June, library officials said.

The newest library built in Tiverton will be called the Tiverton Public Library, unless someone makes a generous donation.
“If somebody wanted to name the whole building, that’s a million dollar donation,” said Ann Grealish-Rust, library director.
Part of the fundraising efforts for the library includes opportunities for residents to name the Tiverton Public Library, a newly constructed building located at 31 Roosevelt Ave.

Those who make a donation can name parts of the library after their family, a loved one, a business, or even themselves.
There are about 10 available areas in the new library that are ready to be named, said Grealish-Rust. Visit the Tiverton Public Library website to find out how to donate.

Over 30 people have made major pledges and over 100 people have made donations, according to the library’s website.
Construction to the outside of the building was completed in December. “They’re working on the finishing touches right now,” Grealish-Rust said.

The last steps to the construction will include painting, flooring and carpentry. “It’s coming,” she said. “We’ll definitely be open in the spring this year.”
Grealish-Rust is hoping for the library to be open some time in May or June. She said there is no exact date planned when the library will be opening its doors to the public.
Once the library construction is completed, furniture still needs to be installed and the library’s collections must be moved to the new location.
The library will not only offer the standard library needs, but will also serve as a multipurpose town center.
Here is what the new library will offer, according to the Tiverton Public Library website:
- Books, e-books, CDs, DVDs, computers, printers, research tools.
- Free internet access.
- Opportunities to learn more about computers and mobile devices.
- Databases and resources for local businesses, job seekers and more.
- Programs for children and teens.
- Social, cultural and educational opportunities.
- Rooms used for study groups, town organizations and business meetings.
- A local history room with important documents and digital collections.
A dedication ceremony will be held at the new Tiverton Public Library on June 13. A fundraising event will be held on May 2, which will give residents the chance to preview the new building. There will be music and appetizers available.
