UPDATE: Woman Struck in Parking Lot of Bank Newport

It occurred before 9 a.m. Tuesday morning.

Tiverton and rescue personnel responded to the parking lot of at 614 Main Road at 8:55 a.m. Tuesday for a report of a pedestrian hit.

Fire Chief Robert Lloyd said the accident and injuries are serious, and one person was transported to St. Anne's Hospital in Fall River and is being transferred to Rhode Island Hospital in Providence.

At 11:30 a.m., Sgt. James Costa reported that based on statements from witnesses, a 64-year-old woman fell out of her own car and was struck by her own vehicle.
