Police Catch Serial Teen Burglar Hiding in Tiverton Home

surrounded a Haskins Avenue house on Tuesday afternoon to arrest a Fall River teenager well-known by police over the past year for his alleged involvement in numerous burglaries and breaking and enterings.

Jordan S. Mello, 19, of 782 Flynn St., Fall River, was arrested at 4:50 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 29, on Haskins Avenue. His charges, which are pending, include three counts of breaking and entering a dwelling or public building without consent, one count of attempted breaking and entering, larceny over $500 and one count of burglary.

According to Lt. Patrick Jones, Mello was arraigned in Second District Court in Newport on his felony charges, where he was also presented as a probation violator. Mello is currently being held at the Adult Correctional Institution.

On Tuesday, Jones said police received information that Mello, who is well known to the department, was at a Haskins Avenue house.

"We went to the residence and cordoned off the area to prevent his escape," Jones said.

After police spoke with the parties of the residence, Jones said they were able to go in and take Mello into custody without incident. Mello was reported found hiding in between a bed mattress and the wall.

Jones said the charges range from reported breaking and enterings on Hooper Street, East Beardsworth Road, as well as a reported at Russ Towers Insurance Agency and Brady Law Offices at 167 Main Road. Mello's alleged attempted breaking and entering stems from a Hobson Avenue residence, a burglary on Judson Street and the larceny charge is from a Lepes Road home.

Mello was arrested in Tiverton on and this year on similar charges.
