Elderly Man in Critical Condition After Tiverton Hit and Run

The following incident was supplied by the Tiverton Police Department. They seek help in locating the vehicle involved in the accident.

Tiverton and personnel responded to a pedestrian hit-and-run accident at the intersection of Main Road and Hilton Street at approximately 5:14 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 23. Police now seek the sedan involved with the accident.

When police arrived at the scene they found a 70-year-old male lying in the roadway suffering from serious injuries. According to police, the victim was transported to St. Anne's Hospital in Fall River, MA, and was later transported to Rhode Island Hospital. As of Thursday, the man was listed in critical condition.

According to witnesses, the victim was struck by a light-colored four-door sedan heading north on Main Road. The vehicle fled the scene, traveling into Fall River. Police said the car sustained damage on the passenger side and the passenger's side rear view mirror.

Anyone who may have witnessed the accident, or may have any information on the vehicle, is urged to call 401-625-6716. The accident is under investigation by Tiverton Detectives Brendan McKinnon and Daniel Martin.
