A spokesman for the American Red Cross said they are helping the family of four – two adults and two children – with emergency housing and food needs after an .
Paul Shipman said Red Cross is also providing comfort kits, containing age and gender appropriate personal care items, such as toothbrushes, deodorant, shaving supplies and other items a family might not have been able to gather in the rush to escape the fire. Children's kits include a stuffed toy.
Shipman noted that their housing assistance is short-term to get people a few days, if needed, before returning home or to begin the process of finding other housing if it will be a longer period of time. He said the Tiverton family could work with their case workers to link to additional resources if that longer term housing – or new housing altogether – were necessary.
