Some Patriotic, Musical and Free Events for Memorial Day Weekend

Enjoy Memorial Day weekend with your family doing some fun (and a few free) events from our Grab and Go Kids Planner.

Enjoy some family time this Memorial Day weekend with crafts, a nautical family sleepover and some musical fun! 

  • LOWES BUILD AND GROW
    Where/When: Lowes (locations in North Dartmouth and Seekonk. Check when registering), May 28 at 10 a.m.
    Why Go: Build a biplane that comes with two complete sets of stickers and punch out pilots.
    Price: Free
  • GASPEE DAY ARTS AND CRAFTS FESTIVAL
    Where/When: Narragansett Parkway, Pawtuxet Village, Warwick, RI March 28 through May 30, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
    Why Go: This festival attracts approximately 50,000 people for three days browsing and purchasing the wares of the 100-150 craft exhibitors along Narragansett Parkway in Cranston and Warwick. All while this is going on, there is a professional food court, free family music entertainment, and other diversions for the children located in Pawtuxet Park.
    Price: Free admission
  • BATTLESHIP COVE FAMILY OVERNIGHT
    Where/When: Battleshop Cove, Five Water Street, Fall River, MA, May 29 to May 30.
    Why Go: Spend the night on a WWII battleship! Sleep in restored Navy bunks; eat meals “chow-line style” in the Officer’s Wardroom, and rise and shine to the sound of reveille. Guests will enjoy all-day admission, three delicious meals, and will have the opportunity to participate in shipboard activities. They will also receive a free Overnight Survival Guide filled with fun facts and activities
    Price: $45 per person (This is a monthly event. Cost will go up in August to $50.00 per person). You need to call to reserve your spots 508-678-1100. Check in is anytime between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. and you are welcome to stay the following day until 5 p.m.
  • TOE JAM PUPPET BAND
    Where/When: Buttonwood Park Zoo, 425 Hawthorne St, New Bedford, MA, May 30, 10:30 a.m. or the 12:30 p.m. show.
    Why Go: Sing, dance and play the hour away with New Bedford’s favorite, The Toe Jam Puppet Band!
    Price: Zoo admission plus $5.00 per family; zoo admission: Adults are $6 nd seniors and teens are $4.50. A child ages 3-12 are $3.00 and children under 3 get in free. 
  • FREE CRAFT
    Where/When: AC Moore, 49 State Rd, North Dartmouth, MA, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
    Why Go: Free make and take Crayola Magic Stars and Stripes craft
    Price: Free
