Pawn Shop Receipts Lead Police to Man Wanted in Alleged Home Burglary

have charged a Fall River man with breaking and entering, after receipts from an area pawn shop were tied to items that went missing from a Stafford Road home last April.
Keith A. Cowen, 41, of 207 Lindsey St., Apt. 3, Fall River, was arrested at 11:49 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 15. He was charged with one count of breaking and entering a dwelling without consent.
According to Lt. Patrick Jones, the report stems from an incident last April where the suspect allegedly pried open a sliding glass door on a Stafford Road home and took jewelry and cash.

"Detectives were able to trace the pawn [shop] slips and learn of several pieces of jewelry fitting the description of those taken," Jones said of transactions made at an unnamed Fall River pawn shop. "The victim positively identified the jewelry and, through the investigation, learned the party responsible was Mr. Cowen."
Based on that, Jones said a package of the investigation was delivered to the Attorney General's office and an indictment was issued. Cowen reportedly turned himself into on Dec. 15 and then was later turned over to Tiverton for processing.
