Woman Caught With Pills, Passing Fake Prescriptions in Tiverton

Police filed federal charges against a New Bedford woman last week after she reportedly amassed prescription pills from Tiverton's , and then attempted to do the same at .

Julianne Mota, 23, of 61 State St., New Bedford, was arrested at 2:31 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14 at 500 Main Road, Tiverton. She was charged with delivering controlled substances and fraudulently in possession of prescription pills.

Sgt. James Costa and Officer James Rossi were dispatched to CVS and were told by the cashier that a customer attempted to fill a prescription for someone else, prompting the pharmacist to become suspicious, according to Lt. Patrick Jones. Upon arrival, police questioned the customer, lated identified as Mota.

During the investigation, Jones said the officers learned that Mota came from the Ride Aid up the road and passed a prescription for 150 Roxocodone pills, a derivitive of Oxycodone.

"She was found in possession of multiple prescriptions for medications," Jones said, noting the one found at CVS was made out to a Florida address for Oxycodone and Hydrocodone tablets. "It appears she was going from pharmacy to pharmacy passing phony prescriptions."

In total, Jones said Mota was found in possession of 200 pills and approximately $850 cash.
