UPDATE: Tiverton Equestrian's Injuries From Fall Considered 'Life Threatening'

A local woman is at Rhode Island Hospital after being thrown from a horse Sunday afternoon.

A 19-year-old local woman is being treated for life threatening injuries at Rhode Island Hospital Sunday night after falling from a horse in Tiverton earlier today.

 Lt. Patrick Jones reported that the equestrian accident occurred around 2:30 p.m. near on North Brayton Road. Jones said the 19-year-old, whose name has not been released, was riding with another woman, a family member, through the trails and was thrown from the horse.

"She suffered serious head trauma and was transported to St. Anne’s Hospital for her injuries," Jones said. "As of now she has been transferred to Rhode Island Hospital with life threatening injuries."

Jones said police and personnel responded to the scene and spoke with witnesses.

"We don't believe there's any evidence of foul play," he added.
