Tiverton Firefighters Assist at Portsmouth Home Fire
The homeowner was reportedly away.
assisted Portsmouth Monday morning in responding to a fire at at 465 Union Street.
[Corrected at 9:32 p.m.] Despite an earlier report of this property being located at a different address, a Vision Appraisal check shows the property to be located at 459 Union St.
A call came in around 7:29 a.m. and when firefighters arrived they discovered heavy smoke and fire coming out of the house on the property. The fire was knocked out of the 3-story wood frame within 10 minutes.

Firefighters know there was fire in the living room, but they don't know the cause or origin at this time. As of 8:30 a.m., they had not gone inside to see the extent of the damage.
Bristol Fire Department assisted with manning the station.

The homeowner is reportedly on vacation. A firefighter was seen carrying a cat out of the home. It is safe.
