Tiverton Man Allegedly Shatters Storm Door With Dead Family Parrot

charged a man with domestic vandalism after he allegedly dug up his family's dead parrot and threw it against their storm door, shattering it.
Michael Ferreira, 32, 2521 Main Road, Tiverton, was arrested at 1:27 p.m., Monday, May 28. He was charged with domestic vandalism.
Officers responded to a report of a disabled Mercedes sports-utility vehicle on Bulgarmarsh Road just east of Main Road, according to Lt. Patrick Jones. In assisting the woman, police found a white substance around the gas tank, which they suspected as sugar. Jones said the woman suspected her son, Ferreria, might be responsible but had no evidence to prove it.

Officers went to speak with the son at the residence, who reportedly denied having any involvement with the problems with the vehicle. Jones said while the officer spoke with Ferreria, the woman showed police the front storm door to the home, which had shattered glass and an apparent dead parrot lying nearby.
Jones said police learned Ferreira evidently dug up the parrot in the backyard, a former family pet, and used it to smash the door.

When questioned by police, Ferreira reportedly admitted he was mad and threw the dead bird at the storm door. Based on his omission, Jones said police charged Ferreira with the domestic vandalism.
