Tiverton Man Allegedly Threatens To 'Gut' His Brother

The following arrests were supplied by the Tiverton Police Department. They do not indicate a conviction.

Two Tiverton brothers received felony assault charges after allegedly brandishing weapons at each other during an escalating argument. No one was injured, according to Lt. Patrick Jones.

Cory Braz, 23, and Kevin Braz, 19, both of 31 Bucks Way, Tiverton, were arrested at 1:35 a.m. and 2:35 a.m., respectively, on Saturday, Jan. 26. Cory was charged with domestic felony assault and domestic disorderly conduct. Kevin was charged with domestic felony assault, domestic vandalism and domestic disorderly conduct.

Jones said police responded to the Bucks Way residence at 12:56 a.m. for a report of a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the mother who claimed that her sons, Cory and Kevin, were fighting. Jones said the argument escalated to the point where Kevin brandished a bottle opener and a pair of scissors and threatened to "gut" his brother. At one point, Kevin reportedly punched a hole in some dry wall.

In response, Cory allegedly retrieved a butcher's knife from the kitchen and threatened his brother. Upon seeing the weapons, Jones said the mother became concerned and called police.

"Fortunately, no one was injured and none of the weapons were used," Jones said.
