Tiverton Mother Charged For Keeping Kids From School

Tiverton Police arrested a mother last week after the principal of her childrens' school reported she's repeatedly failed to bring them to school.
Jolene Powell Eithier, 35, of 1 Mill St., Apt. 1504, Tiverton, was arrested at 1:32 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 20, at her residence at Bourne Mill Apartments. She was charged with three counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Lt. Patrick Jones said the department's juvenile detective, Brandan McKinnon, received a call from the principal of earlier this month, stating there's been an "ongoing issue" with her three children attending school. Jones reported the ages of the children are 14, 12 and 10.

"This case has been ongoing for a better part of a year," Jones said.
He added an investigation was launched by the , police and family court, and during a hearing on Oct. 12, the family court judge petitioned the mother, later identified as Eithier, for ongoing problems of failing to send her children to school.
