Tiverton Police: Driver Blows .224 After Crash, Teens Caught Driving With Beer

The following arrests were supplied by the Tiverton Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

charged a highly intoxicated man with drunk driving on Sunday afternoon following a two-car accident.

David Leonard Klausmeyer, 52, of 621 Second St., Fall River, MA, was arrested at 2:57 p.m., Sunday, March 26. He was charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs or alcohol (first offense), with a blood-alcohol content level greater than .15.

Lt. Patrick Jones said police responded to the intersection of Crandall and Crest roads for a two-car accident. Evidently, one vehicle, driven by Klausmeyer, rearended another vehicle. Jones said there were no injuries to both operators and minor damage was sustained to the vehicles.

The responding officers noted signs of alcohol intoxication on Klausmeyer, and Jones said he urinated himself after police observed his pants were wet above the upper thigh and groin area.

Klausmeyer was given a field sobriety test, which he failed. Jones said he was taken into custody and submitted a breathalyzer test on scene, which reportedly registered .224 and .222.

Teens driving, drinking beer on Rt. 24

Casey Jarvis, 19, of 33 Black Creek Lane, Warren, was arrested at 5:28 p.m., Monday, March 26. He was charged with possession of alcohol by an underage person, possession of marijuana (first offense), transportation of alcohol by a minor, operating a motor vehicle while in possession of controlled substances and presence of alcoholic beverages while operating a motor vehicle.

Also, Lincoln T. McDonald, 19, of 118 Hamilton Road, Jamestown, and Samuel Baugh, 18, of 18 Neptune St., Jamestown, were arrested and each charged with possession of alcohol by an underage person.

Jones said police responded to Route 24 for a 911 call of three people in a vehicle seen drinking Pabst Blue Ribbon beer. Officers set up a post, saw the vehicle matching the description and stopped them. Jones said officers could detect the odor of alcohol when approaching the vehicle, found alcohol within the vehicle and all three people were under 21.

The officer gave the operator, Jarvis, a field sobriety test and he submitted a preliminary breath test on scene and he reportedly registered under the legal limit. Police also found marijuana in his possession. Jarvis and the other two passengers were still arrested for the alcohol possession.

Man allegedly tries to push girlfriend out of car

Aaron David Medeiros, 40, of 7 Pearl St., Apt. B, Newport, was arrested at 8:18 p.m., Saturday, March 24. He was charged with domestic simple assault and battery.

Jones said police responded to a 911 call for a disturbance on Main Road in front of . Upon arrival police spoke with a woman who said her boyfriend, Medeiros, had left the scene. She stated they were driving to their home in Newport with their children, with whom they have in common, when Medeiros allegedly began yelling at her and calling her a bad mother. Medeiros allegedly became upset and pulled over to the side of the road and attempted to push his girlfriend out of the car with his right hand, according to Jones. 

"She got a small cut on the back of her right hand as she attempted to hold herself on," Jones said.

Medeiros reportedly turned himself into police headquarters and received the assault charge.

Teens found with pot and a knife

Shawn Raposo, 20, of 88 School St., Fall River, MA, was arrested at 10:10 p.m., Monday, March 19. He was charged with possession of marijuana (first offense), possession of a knife with a blade longer than three inches, operating a motor vehicle while in possession of controlled substances and a muffler violation.

Also, Alex Raposo, 22, of 88 School St., Fall River, MA, and David Bredham, 24, 539 Center St., Apt. 1 Fall River, MA, were charged with one count each of possession of marijuana (first offense).

Jones said officers stopped a car with a loud exhaust on William S. Canning Boulevard. The officer could reportedly smell the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Jones said police padded down the vehicle's operator, Shawn Raposo, and seized a large black folding knife from his front right pocket.

Jones noted police found eight bags of marijuana after a further search of the vehicle.

Youth in violation of no contact order

A 12-year-old boy, of Tiverton, was arrested at 3 p.m., Tuesday, March 20 and charged with a violation of a no contact order.

Jones said the incident dates back to March 6. An officer took a walk-in complaint from parents who alleged their 12-year-old son had been contacted by another boy with whom they have an active no contact order issued against. Jones said the nature of the contact was multiple obscene gestures toward their son, and the parents alleged there have been "multiple incidents" where the 12-year-old violated the no contact order. Based on the statements, Jones said the matter was referred to the family court of the Attorney General's office.

Bench warrants

  • Mark Trial, 20, of 26 Clement St., Apt. 1-S, Fall River, MA, was arrested at 6:25 p.m., Thursday, March 22. He was taken into custody based on an outstanding bench warrant issued in Sixth District Court for failure to pay fines.
  • Anthony Medeiros, 53, of 8 Conz St., North Hampton, MA, was arrested at 4:33 p.m., Friday, March 23. He was taken into custody based on an oustanding bench warranted issued in Second District Court. Jones said Medeiros' warrant was located by police during an officer's investigation for a complaint of vandalism on Crandall Road, and one of the people reportedly involved was Medeiros.
