Tiverton Police Log: Electrician Skips Job, Halloween DUI and Stolen Ladder
The following arrests were supplied by the Tiverton Police Department. They do not indicate a conviction.

A Little Compton electrician who gave an estimate last winter to a Tiverton homeowner took the initial deposit money and never returned, according to .
Charles Case, 39, of 256 Long Highway, Little Compton, was arrested on warrant by Tiverton Police at 8:58 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 1. Case was charged with obtaining money under false pretenses.
Police received an initial complaint on June 23 from a Tiverton resident stating that an electrician, Mr. Case, provided an estimate on Dec. 22, 2010, to do work on his home, according to Lt. Patrick Jones. The homeowner gave Case $500 as an initial deposit but case allegedly never returned.

"He made several attempts to contact Case, who made promises he would return and never did," Jones said.
He added that called Tiverton on Tuesday to notify them they had Case in custody, based on the warrant.

Alleged drunk driver nearly hits cops on Halloween
Annie Dias, 38, of 16 Amory Petty Way, Westport, MA, was arrested by Tiverton Police at 11:02 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 31, on Crandall Road. Dias was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs or alcohol (first offense) and possession of prescription pills.
Jones said one officer was assisting another at a traffic stop on Crandall Road that night, when a car came "flying by" them at a high rate of speed, almost hitting the officers. Police noted the car was swerving all over the road, and one officer took chase while other officer finished the traffic stop and followed.
He said police made contact with the driver, later identified as Dias, who failed a field sobriety test, and then later refused a breathalyzer test. Jones noted that during an inventory search of her car, police found two Diazapam pills inside an Advil bottle inside her purse.
"She said she had a prescription, but could not produce one," Jones said.
Man openly steals neighbor's ladder out of spite
Christopher Berube, 44, of 2371 Main Road, Tiveton, was arrested at 9:46 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 1. He was charged with larceny under $500. Jones said police got a call from Berube's neighbors earlier that night, complaining they were sitting on their deck when they saw Berube walk into their yard with a flashlight.
"They saw him steal one of their ladders, and laughing," Jones said, adding that police followed up with Berube at his address and arrested him. "There was something his neighbor had borrowed he wanted back and this was some sort of retaliation."
Simple assault
Aires Dorego, 49, of 334 Norman St., Fall River, was arrested at 1:48 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 30, at Bear's Den Auto on Bear's Den Road. He was charged with domestic simple assault and battery.
Jones said police received a call from a female saying she was fighting with her boyfriend. The argument started at a house in Fall River where the girlfriend said she was struck by her boyfriend, later identified as Dorego. Jones said the girl reportedly tried to leave but couldn't, then later left Fall River to go to her father's house on Bear's Den Road. Jones said Dorego showed up at the house, threw her clothes at her feet while outside, began calling her inappropriate names and pushed her.
While the confrontation was happening, Jones said the girl called 911, and Dorego quickly drove away. Police prepared a warrant for his arrest and Dorego later turned himself in.
Parents take away keys; son erupts
Victor M. DaSilva, 19, of 22 Cherry Lane, Tiverton, was arrested at 1:42 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 28. He was charged with domestic vandalism. Jones said officers responded to the residence at the request of DaSilva's father. Officers learned the son became upset because his parents didn't let him have the car keys. The son allegedly then got upset, took a hammer and began smashing holes in the walls of their house. Jones said the teen struck the refrigerator twice and damaged the kitchen cabinet before ripping it off its hinges.
Man caught dumping trash at Rite Aid
Adriano Cabral, 42, of 66 Massey Road, Tiverton, was arrested at 6:08 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 26, at the at 677 Main Road. Cabral was charged with illegal dumping and was cited to appear in municipal court.
Jones said police received a call earlier that afternoon from the store manager complaining he came to work the previous day and found four black trash bags and a television with a VCR tossed into their trash compactor. Jones said after further investigation, police were able to locate bills linked to Cabral and his address.
"Officers followed up with Cabral, who admitted to dumping the trash," Jones said.
Warrant arrest
William L. Conley III, 41, of 84 Holly Drive, South Chatham, MA, was arrested in Tiverton at 9:49 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 25, on Route 24. He was taken into custody based on an affidavit and arrest warrant from the Bristol Police Department, as well as operating a motor vehicle on a revoked license. Jones said Conley was pulled over for making "several" roadway violations, and a computer check revealed he was actively wanted in Bristol for issuing a bad check.
Bench warrants
- Christy Loman, 41, of 37 Pershing Ave., Tiverton, was arrested at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 1. She was taken into custody on an outstanding bench warrant issued in Second District Court for failing to pay court fines.
- Daniel L. Bernier, 31, of 217 Stafford Road, Tiverton, was arrested at 6:54 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 1. He was taken into custody on an outstanding Second District Court bench warrant for failing to pay fines.
- Amanda Martin, 30, of 57 Walnut St., Apt. 2, Tiverton, was arrested at 11:01 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 1. Martin was taken into custody on an oustanding bench warrant issued in Second District Court for failing to pay court fines.
