Jones said officers advised the two to go the police station, while the officers went to the Corys Lane residence to speak to Arruda. Through an investigation and interviews, police learned that an altercation erupted that evening between Arruda and the girlfriend, and then the woman and Arruda's son took off.

During the fight, Jones said Arruda allegedly struck the woman in the face, pulled her hair and broke her eyeglasses. It was also alleged Arruda took the woman's phone, and then prevented his son from calling 911, Jones said.
