Two Car Accident Clearing on Sakonnet Bridge

Two vehicles were in a rear-end accident on Route 24 north on the Sakonnet Bridge Tuesday afternoon. The accident occurred around 4 p.m., according to Chief Robert Lloyd.

He said there were two injured occupants transported to Newport Hospital. Public safety personnel from Portsmouth and Tiverton responded to the scene.

As of 5 p.m. traffic was still backed up on Route 24 north in Portsmouth as the accident was still being cleared.
