VIDEO: Tiverton Ice Supplier Keeps Bags Flowing To The Public
Eastern Ice Co. on Main Road in Stone Bridge has been exceptionally busy the last two days since Tropical Storm Irene left people without refrigerator and freezer power.
Keeping foods cool while waiting for the power to come back on can be a tedious process, especially when area businesses run out of ice. In the wake of Tropical Storm Irene, Eastern Ice Co. on Main Road in Stone Bridge has kept busy, and then some.
On Tuesday employee Kaylee Barbalace showed their freezer, which still has a significant amount of ice, yet described Monday and Tuesday as a frenzy of residents in need of ice for their food. Usually its pallets are stocked from floor to ceiling in the freezer with 25-pound and 10-pound blocks of ice.
Barbalace said their plant in Fall River completely sold out of ice yesterday, and added that residents from area mobile home parks, including Dadson Mobile Home Estates, have been coming to get their ice supply. Dadson's has been for over two and a half days.
