Woman Rescued From Simmons Mill Pond Woods

The following report was supplied by the Little Compton Police Department.

and rescue personnel found a woman lost in the woods near Simmons Mill Pond on Friday.

Erin Carr, 26, of Fairhaven, MA, was found at 10:57 a.m., Friday, March 23 in the Simmons Mill Pond area.

Sgt. John Faria said police responded to the area for a report of a woman lost in the woods. He said the 911 dispatcher was able to point rescue personnel to Carr's vicinity from the global positioning system on her cell phone when she called. Carr was located and found to be okay.

She reported being turned around in the woods while out for a walk and needed help getting back to her vehicle. The remote area of Simmons Mill Pond ia approximately 450 acres. Police did not have exactly how long Carr was lost, but Faria said it was for several hours.

"The trails get pretty confusing and it's easy to get turned around," Faria said.

Little Compton rescue personnel lost in the same woods suffering from hypothermia. Her cell phone GPS aided in that rescue as well.
