71-Year-Old Killed In Clamming Mishap Off Conimicut Point Identified

First responders located the Cumberland man in the water with the assistance of the Coast Guard, police said.

WARWICK, RI — The 71-year-old man killed in a clamming mishap off Conimicut Point Sunday afternoon has been identified.

"The 71-year-old The victim of an apparent drowning at Conimicut Point on June 28, 2026 has been identified as Bruce
Khounborinh, age 71, of Cumberland," the Warwick Police Department said in a media release.

Police officers and firefighters responded to Conimicut Point shortly after 1 p.m. to investigate a report of a man in the water who had been clamming but "then was no longer visible," according to a media release.

"With the assistance of the United States Coast Guard, a male was located in the water near the point," the release said. "Warwick Fire pulled the male from the water and immediately began life saving measures."

Khounborinh was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to the release.
