Today's riddle: What is clean when it is black and dirty when it is white? 🤔 (Answer below!)
1. Warwick Man Charged With Receiving Stolen Goods: Cops (patch.com) — Warwick residents are learning that a 38-year-old local man has been charged with receiving stolen goods following his arrest by the Rhode Island State Police Auto Theft Task Force. He was also wanted for failing to appear in court on a breaking and entering case and was presented as a Superior Court probation violator after receiving a surety bond.
2. Warwick Council Holds Stop Signs, Narrows River St. Parking (upriseri.com) — Warwick drivers on River Street will see a narrowed overnight parking ban, now limited to the stretch north of Bellows Street, while new four-way stop signs were delayed until an October 19 vote. The City Council also approved several contracts, tax abatements, and commission appointments, and advanced traffic study requests and future debates on retiree benefits and a non-utilization tax. These decisions shape neighborhood safety, parking, and city spending.
3. Lawyer: TF Green worker caught with gun was director of operations (wpri.com) — An airport operations director at T.F. Green in Warwick was arrested after admitting he had an unloaded handgun and a knife in his bag during a random security check, despite lacking a valid Rhode Island permit. He has been fired, released on recognizance, and faces felony charges, with his lawyer arguing the incident was negligent rather than intentional.
4. NBC 10 AM Flash Briefing: October 6, 2026 (turnto10.com) — A large police response at Warwick Mall on Monday was triggered by an armed security guard, according to police, drawing attention from shoppers across the city. The same news briefing also touches on a Biden visit to Newport, a fatal UTV crash in Little Compton, and a missing medical flight off Nantucket, but Warwick residents will be most focused on the mall incident close to home.
5. Ball python recovering after rescue from vehicle engine in West Warwick (coastalabc.com) — A ball python rescued from a vehicle engine in West Warwick is recovering after extensive treatment, according to ET Reptiles in Warwick. Staff and customers spent nearly an hour freeing the injured snake, now nicknamed Sally, and local exotic vets are cautiously optimistic. The shop is urging Warwick-area pet owners to seek help rehoming reptiles instead of releasing them outdoors.
