Sunday Afternoon Stabbing Outside St. Timothy's Church Leaves 1 Wounded: Warwick Cops
A man tabbed as the stabber surrendered to the law, police said.
WARWICK, RI — A Sunday afternoon stabbing in the parking lot of St. Timothy's church left one man wounded, police said.
The 39-year-old man was stabbed in the arm shortly after 3 p.m., the Warwick police said in a media release.
The man was found in the back parking lot of the 1799 Warwick Ave. church and taken to a local hospital, where he was in serious but stable condition, according to the release.

Statements from the stabbed man and witnesses led police to identify 37-year-old Derek Shippee as the stabber.
Shippee surrendered to police shortly after the stabbing and was charged with felony assault, according to the release.

"This appears to be an isolated incident, and there is no threat to the public," the release said.
