📰 News we're reading
• Westerly man to serve more than 8 years in state prison for DUI crash that killed a 31-year-old pedestrian (einpresswire.com) — A Westerly man has been sentenced to 8.5 years in state prison for a 2023 drunk-driving crash on Oak Street that killed 31-year-old Westerly resident Michael DePaola. Police found DePaola fatally injured on the sidewalk, and later tests showed the driver's blood alcohol level above the legal limit. Local police and the Attorney General say they hope the stiff sentence reinforces the consequences of impaired driving in Westerly.
