Bites Nearby: Ciro's Tavern

Ciro's Tavern on Cherry serves it up, hot and delicious.

If you haven't been to Ciro's Tavern on Cherry in Woonsocket you don't know what you're missing. Often dubbed "Woonsocket's best kept secret," it far exceeded my expectations. We were greeted on Sunday afternoon by Chris, quite possibly the most down to earth, friendly waiter I've ever had.

For appetizers we enjoyed fried mozzarella triangles, and the onion ring stack, both were crispy, hot and delicious. For lunch I chose the highly recommended delmonico steak sandwich with fries. The dish was hot, the steak melted in my mouth and the fries were piled high on my plate; it was simply delicious. My husband chose the BBQ Burger topped with pulled pork, bacon, cheddar and slaw served with a side of fries. This dish was also served nice and hot and to say it was a generous portion would be an understatement. My husband is not a man of many words but I can tell you this, he said it tasted awesome and he could not finish the entire burger!

The atmosphere at Ciro's is warm, inviting and very spacious, unlike the normal cramped booths you find in todays chain restaurants, my kids could squirm in their seats and turn around without being in someone else's space, a huge plus. I am definitely looking forward to returning with friends to enjoy some of the nightlife advertised throughout the pub such as live bands by the fire on Friday nights or karaoke on Saturday nights. Ciro's also has a monthly themed party, as well as frugal Friday's half priced appetizers and drinks from 3 p.m.-6 p.m., who knew?

If I had to say Ciro's was lacking anything it would be a kids menu. Having said that, our waiter Chris fixed that problem immediately saying "no worries kids, what do you want to eat, we'll make it, no sweat!"
