Community Made Art Living in the Community
East Greenwich and Newport, RI (October 2011)
Festival Fete, an art festival production company, based out of RI organizes five art festivals each year. Every Festival Fete production features over 100 juried artists, a farmer’s market, children’s activities and crafts, strolling entertainment, and festive music. In addition, there is a community art project for everyone to participate. “We believe there is an artist in everybody, so we create opportunities for festival attendees to express themselves and experience the thrill of creativity,” said Jennifer Neuguth, founder of Festival Fete.
Festival Fete organized the Garden City Center Art Festival in June in which two murals were created and on display at Webster Bank and Whole Foods Market in Cranston.

The Critter Chair has found a happy home at the East Greenwich Free Library. “Children's eyes light up when they walk into the Library and see this colorful critter” said Karen Taylor, library director at the East Greenwich Free Library.
In Newport, a beautiful mermaid sculpture was created by the community and Lisa May during Harborfest in October at the Newport Yachting Center. "I love the challenge of creating sculpture from my imagination. My enjoyment is complete when I see how the children react with surprise and wonder at the sculpture and how they enthusiastically participate in decorating it," said artist Lisa May.
