C.O.P.S. Spin To Be Held This Afternoon To Raise Money For COPSWALK

The Gym LLC is holding an event to help raise money for families of fallen officers killed in line of duty.

The Gym LLC will be holding, a fundraising event, this afternoon to help raise money toward the annual Woonsocket Police  COPSWALK,  which is set to be held on May 9, 2011.

The goal of the fundraising event will be held to raise money for families of the fallen officers who were killed in the line-of-duty.

is holding five spinning classes outside their facility, at 2168 Diamond Hill Rd.  The first class for the fundraising event will be held at 4 p.m. today.  The classes will consist of 17 bicycles.  There will also be a DJ there to accept music requests for the class to spin to. The last class will be at 8 p.m.  

The Gym is currently accepting $10 donation for any members or nonmembers who would like to participate in the classes or to just strictly donate to help out with the police walk. Judy Sullivan, owner of The Gym, said they are hoping to raise $1000 from the fundraiser. 

The spinning fundraiser is going to continue rain or shine, Sullivan said.  “It’s going on regardless.”

People can still sign up for the classes today and throughout the afternoon. depending on how many bikes are available.  However, the classes are filling up fast, said Sullivan, with the help of notices of the event on the gym's website and Facebook.  There are currently about 85 participants signed up to help with raising money for the walk. 

Along with this C.O.P.S Spin, the will also be selling T-Shirts to help with raising money for the May 9 Walk.  The T-Shirts are being sold at $15 each and can be picked up at the Woonsocket Police station.
