Here are the top stories in Woonsocket today:
- On Monday night, the Woonsocket City Council meeting had many people speaking against the synthetic ice rink, ornamental lights and ergonomic chairs for council members. "This is a once in a lifetime opportunity," said Christa Thomas-Sowers, who does outreach work in the city. "We have an obligation to the people in this city, they are struggling, they are suffering." She is referring to the $36 million given to Woonsocket as federal COVID relief money. How is affordable housing not the #1 priority? Regardless of the backlash, Woonsocket City Council voted in favor of the chairs and the ice rink among other questionable items. (WPRI.com)
- A junk yard fire blew through Five Star Auto Salvage on Douglas Pike Monday night. The RI Deputy State Fire Marshal said approximately 100 used or junk cars have been completely destroyed. That's more than the 30 cars that Smithfield Fire Chief reported Monday night. (WPRI.com)
- Chariho High School went into lockdown yesterday for the 2nd time in a week. This time, over 50 police officers responded with a search of the school. Don't forget there was the SWAT team at Coventry High on Monday. Students must be pretty nervous these days. (WJAR)

Thanks for following along and staying informed with Kathleen Stoddart! I live in Woonsocket and have 3 grown kids and 3 rescue dogs to keep me busy. I love hardware stores and can be seen checking out all the cool stuff. Being a Realtor, I sort of have an excuse. Neighbors, please don't think we're crazy but my husband deep-fries our Thanksgiving turkey and he lowers it into the pot with his hockey stick! Any ideas or feedback, email me at KathC21Homes@gmail.com
