Question of the Week: Education and the American Dream
Do you agree that the Dream Act will help to boost the Rhode Island economy?

Welcome to this week's watercooler question of the week, a Woonsocket Patch feature that allows you to weigh in on a subject that affects Woonsocket and how we live in this great city.
At the urging of Gov. Lincoln Chafee the Rhode Island Board of Governors for Higher Education unanimously approved in-state tuition for undocumented residents who have lived in the state for three years and attended high school, or received a GED. Chafee said he believes it will allow more Rhode Islanders to attend college and help build a stronger workforce and boost an economy that is one of the nation's most troubled.
Do you agree with Chafee's stance on this issue? Do you believe this will be a boost to the Rhode Island economy? Do you feel this decision should have been made through the Board of Governors for Higher Education, or do you think it should've gone through the Gen. Assembly? Is this an issue you would like your Gen. Assembly members to have a strong voice on? The last question on this subject has to do with the three years the undocumented student has in our local school systems, where the education is free. Do you feel the local documented taxpayers have a right to know how many undocumented students are in the their school systems, and what financial impact it has on their school budget?
