Woonsocket Middle School Theater Club to Perform "Anne of Green Gables" Play

On Wednesday, May 18, 2011 and Thursday, May 19, 2011 at 7:00 p.m., Woonsocket Middle School at Villa Nova Cafetorium, 240 Florence Drive will be the site of the School Play “Anne of Green Gables”. This performance is open to the public.  Doors open at 6:30 p.m.  Admission is $5.00 at the door.

“Anne of Green Gables” is a play by Jody Johnston Davidson.  Experience the adventures of Anne Shirley and her “best friend for life,” Diana Barry through their journey from childhood to maturity.  Enjoy Anne’s high-spirited antics in this heartwarming adaptation of the classic novel by L.M. Montgomery.  Under the direction of Mr. Daniel Lee White, assisted by Ms. Emily Dziobek, this year’s Theater Club students will perform in the sixth annual theatrical production at Woonsocket Middle School.

Twenty-five talented and energetic 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Theater Club members met twice a week after school to rehearse for the play and work behind the scenes.  Theater Club is one of several after-school programs offered through the 21st Century Community Learning Center (21st CCLC) at Woonsocket Middle School sponsored by Connecting for Children & Families and the Woonsocket Education Department.  The 21st CCLC promotes student academic success by providing a variety of after-school, vacation week and summer programs in a safe, supportive environment.
