Mountains under the Microscope
Monday, September 21, 2:00pm-3:00pm
Over a century and a half ago, British scientist Henry Clifton Sorby was the first to grind rocks thinner than an average human hair. Since then, thin sections of rocks, concrete and metal have been invaluable to geology and materials science. Properly prepared, thin sections are also beautiful works of art and look like stained glass windows under the microscope. Join us as we learn how thin sections are made and used and how important they are to understanding the evolution of our world.
Cost: $3.00 per adult. Free for Museum Members.
