Man Found Dead Inside Woonsocket Apartment, Roommate In Custody

WOONSOCKET, RI — One man was found dead, and his roommate was charged with murder, in Woonsocket Friday morning.

Police told WPRI-TV that the death on Cass Avenue is being investigated as a homicide. Police told the station that the 30-year-old victim was found inside the apartment about 8:15 a.m. having suffered from gunshots wound.

The victim was identified as Derek Desjardin, 30.

The victim's roommate, Paul Raposo, 26, was taken into custody about two hours later at River Island Park, Police Chief Thomas Oates told the station. Police told the station he was found to have a pistol on him at the time.

He was charged with domestic murder, discharging a firearm in committing that resulted in death, discharging a firearm within city limits and use of firearm without a permit.
