Mass Pike Crash Seriously Injures 2

An unidentified woman and a Woonsocket man were in a vehicle that drove into a tree.

A crash Tuesday morning on the Mass Pike in Ludlow resulted in serious injuries, Massachusetts State Police said.

At about 10 a.m. this morning, 2013 Nissan van operated by a 54-year-old Springfield woman was traveling westbound on Route 90 when it began to change lanes. An unidentified woman in the next lane driving a 2004 Honda Accord tried to avoid a collision, but lost control of the vehicle, hit the Nissan, and crashed into a tree in the median.

The driver of the Honda and her 22-year-old passenger from Woonsocket were seriously injured, entrapped int he vehicle. They were extricated by Ludlow Fire and transported to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield.

The driver of the Nissan was uninjured.

The crash remains under investigation.
