Geology of the East Bay Bike Path
Saturday, November 7, 10:00am-11:30am
Winding around the shoreline, the East Bay Bike Path provides wonderful vistas of the coastal lagoons, marshes and shoreline of the upper Narragansett Bay but it also provides a glimpse into Rhode Island’s distant past 300 million years ago. Along the bike path we will examine rock sequences recording the deposition of braided rivers, floodplains, and lakes culminating with faulting and deformation from the final assembly of the supercontinent of Pangaea. Along our walk from Riverside Square to Watchemocket Cove we will also see traces of the mighty glaciers that scoured the area during the last Ice Age. Preregistration required.
$5.00 per person/includes Museum admission. Children under age 4 are not permitted. No pets permitted.
