Police: Car Chase Leads to Armed Robbery Arrests

Woonsocket Police identified and arrested three suspects allegedly involved in a first degree armed robbery on Wednesday, Dec. 17.

On Saturday, Dec. 20, Woonsocket police attempted to stop a vehicle and its two occupants who were possibly involved in first degree armed robberies.

The driver refused to stop for the patrol officer who utilized their emergency lights and sirens, police said.

Officers pursued the vehicle to Uxbridge, MA and took the suspects to the Uxbridge Police Department to be interviewed.

Police identified the suspects as Matthew Squandrito, 22, of Woonsocket, Joshua Correia, 20, of Woonsocket and Christopher Bellanti, 37, of Woonsocket. The suspects were taken into custody and charged with first degree robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery.

The suspects were allegedly involved in the armed robbery of Santander Bank, 411 Social St on Wednesday, Dec. 17 and the armed robbery of the Bank of America, 25 John A. Cummings Way, on Monday Dec. 15, Providence Journal reported.
