Readers' Choice: Cold Spring Park Best in City
Readers choose the park on Harris Avenue and Katherine Road as the best in Woonsocket in this week's Readers' Choice poll.

All of Rhode Island got an unexpected taste of summer this week when temperatures soared into the high-70s and even the low-80s in some spots. Winter jackets were shed and he masses headed outdoors to enjoy the sunshine.
But where did you go? Where in Woonsocket is the best park or playground to spend an afternoon with the family, take an extended lunch away from the office, or just unwind amidst nature?
We asked Woonsocket Patch readers and the results are in. After five days of voting, has been named the Readers' Choice for best park in Woonsocket.

Cold Spring finished in a tight race with Cass Park and Globe Park, earning 37 percent of the vote. Globe Park, which garnered just 21 percent of the vote in the poll, made a late push for the finish line with a 5-star rating on its Patch Places listing, earning it the second place nod over Cass Park, which received 25 percent of the vote, but had no rating on its listing. Cold Spring currently has 4.5-star rating.
Located on the Blackstone River, has a perfect combination of peaceful beauty for the nature lovers and facilities for the athletes. The 19-acre park contains a canoe launch, two tennis courts, two basketball courts, two baseball fields, a large playground, a pavilion for performances and trails for walking.

"Cold Spring Park is beautiful and should stay that way forever," one Woonsocket Patch reader commented on the park's directory listing. "In fact I visited today and had a great time walking alon the water."
