SOUTH SHORE LANDS IN "SPIDER" WEB

Daley tallies winning goal for CSP United U10 Girls Soccer; Berger extends scoreless streak

CUMBERLAND—The CSP United U10 Girls soccer team continued to roll in Maple Premier League contests. Mary “Spider” Daley scored the go-ahead score and goalie Kaitlyn Berger kept visiting South Shore from getting anything past her en route to a 2-0 win.

In their first season in this League, CSP United has made themselves feel right at home. They are 3-0 in league play since they joined.

Unlike in the previous games, CSP United did not wait until after halftime to light up the scoreboard. Daley ran passed the defenders and blasted a shot past the keeper in the 18th minute. From there, it was a defensive wall led by Mya Miller, Stasia Todd and Liz Luca that prevented much from their opponents. What did get through was easily dealt with by Berger, who has now not been scored on in eight straight games.

CSP United doubled its lead nine minutes into the second half. Midfielder Rachael Grieve passed the ball to Halle Delmore resulting in scoring the second team goal. Delmore had a golden opportunity to pad the lead on a penalty kick after she was tripped in the box. However her shot hit the post.

Throughout the game forwards Mackenzie Lavallee, Sienna Morris, Daley, and Delmore had many opportunities to score but South Shore Select goalkeeper was able to defend many of the shots. CSP midfielders Alexandra Guerra, Ava Normandin, Katie Jakubiak, Madelyn Dion, Grieve, and Maggie Ray played extremely well passing, shooting, and distributing the ball around to the forwards and creating many opportunities to score.
