Woonsocket Teams Begin An Auspicious Spring

Woonsocket Boys off to impressive start on the diamond, MSC Girls are finding the net on the lacrosse field.

Woonsocket Baseball is off to a phenomenal start. They are 7-1 with their only loss coming against Division II North Leader Johnston, who is also 7-1 on the season. Nearing the halfway point in the season, the Villa Novans look poised to give Johnston a run at the Division title, as Woonsocket has won two straight and has outscored its opponents 56-25 on the season. The Villa Novans continue their season on Monday against Juanita Sanchez.

MSC Baseball is 3-4 on the season, but have looked better of late, winning two of their last three. Pitching was a major issue for the Mounties in their first five games, allowing 38 runs during their 1-4 start. The Mounties have since quieted opponents' bats, allowing only nine runs in their last three contests. MSC will look to build on their recent success when they travel to North Kingstown on Tuesday.

Woonsocket Softball got off to a scorching start, winning their opening three contests, but has since cooled off and has lost its last two. The Villa Novans have been outscored 18-3 in their two losses and will need to get back on track against Rogers on Tuesday.

MSC Softball is off to a 2-3 start to the season and sit in fourth place in Division I North. MSC finally put it all together on Friday when they shellacked Warwick Veterans 15-0. The Mounties will look to keep the bats going on Monday against Bayview.

Woonsocket Boys Tennis is 1-3 on the season and sit in the middle of the pack in the Division III North standings. The Villa Novans will have a chance to start to move up the standings when they face off against winless North Providence on Monday.

MSC Boys Tennis has really struggled this season, and are 1-5 to start the season. The schedule will not be handing out any gifts to the Mounties, as they will face the top three squads in Division I South in their next three meets.

MSC Boys Lacrosse is 2-3 in the early going and in third place in Division II North. The Mounties have only fallen by one in two of their losses, and have only scored one fewer goal than they've allowed this season. MSC will look to get back to .500 against South Kingstown on Tuesday.

MSC Girls Lacrosse is 3-2 on the young season and have had an offensive ouburst in their last two games, scoring 29 goals. The Mounties will look to keep up the offensive intensity in the next matchup against Classical on Monday.
