Suspicious Fire Investigated in Woonsocket

Woonsocket firefighters extinguished a fire in an abandoned building on Saturday.

The fire caused damage to the building at 92 Sunnyside Drive and the fire is considered suspicious, according to the fire chief.

The fire broke out shortly before 11 a.m. and has been vacant for many years. Nearby residents said the building has been problematic and a dumping ground for years.

The fire chief is recommending the building be demolished, according to reports.

Nobody was hurt in the blaze and the cause remains under investigation.
