Woonsocket Couple's Deaths Ruled Murder-Suicide: Police

Tanya Gagnon and Charles Johnson were found dead in a Social Street apartment, Woonsocket police said.

WOONSOCKET, RI — Woonsocket police ruled the deaths of a man and woman found in a Social Street apartment Wednesday afternoon a murder-suicide.

Police said Tanya Gagnon, 44, and Charles Johnson, 43, were found in separate rooms of the apartment, each with a single gunshot wound. Police said a cat was also found shot to death in the apartment, while a dog was found unharmed and taken to the Woonsocket Animal Shelter.

Police said they were called to the apartment for a wellness check on the couple Wednesday about 4 p.m. They said Johnson was the suspected shooter.

Police said the couple had been together for three years and lived together since March. They said that a review showed no prior domestic violence calls to the apartment prior to Wednesday.
