Library Hours
The library’s summer hours are Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Tuesday and Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday hours will resume September 8th.

Chris McPherson Retiring
Reader Advisor Christine McPherson retired at the end of June after working at the library for almost 34 years! Chris worked at both the Reference Desk and the Circulation Desk, as well as writing the monthly “Senior Section” column in the newsletter. Best wishes for your retirement, Chris!

Nooks
The library is now circulating Nook e-readers. There are two models of the Nook: the Nook Simple Touch and the Nook Color. The Nook Simple Touch is a simple black and white e-reader designed just for reading ebooks. The Nook Color is a tablet that allows users to read ebooks, go on the internet (where wifi is available), stream video and use applications. The Nooks will be checked out for seven days with no renewal, and the late fee will be one dollar per day. To request a Nook, please fill out a form at any service desk (Circulation, Reference, Young Adult or Children’s). Online forms will be available on the upcoming redesigned website. Reservations by the library's catalog are not available at this time. For more information, please contact 769-9044.
Job Skills Workshops
The Woonsocket Harris Public Library is offering the following free Job Searching Skills workshops this summer:
Cover Letters, Friday, July 13, 2012, 10 a.m.
Interviewing (Two-part session), Friday, July 20 & 27, 10 a.m.
These classes are provided through the Broadband Technology Opportunities Program (BTOP), which has also provided ten laptops and videoconferencing equipment to the Woonsocket Harris Public Library. Instructors are staff from Ocean State Libraries. Space is limited to ten students per class. If students bring their own laptop, then additional spots are available in each class. Adult Knitting Circle
Thursdays, 7-8:30 p.m.
Knitters and crocheters of all levels of experience are invited to attend this crafting circle. Led by experienced knitter and crocheter, Jen Grover.
Book Club
Wednesday, July 18, 7 p.m.

Anime Night
Wednesdays, 6-8 p.m.
Anime is a unique form of Japanese storytelling through animation. Join fellow otaku for an evening of popular anime series and films. For ages 12-18.
Creative Writing Group
Wednesdays, 7:30 p.m.
Local writers will have an opportunity to meet weekly to share support, suggestions and criticism. This will be an informal gathering of both published and unpublished writers who might find a group useful for incentive and inspiration. There is no charge to join. Written Word Writing Group
Thursdays, 7:15 p.m.
