Woonsocket Man Indicted for Child Molestation and Indecent Exposure
Michael Powell is facing three counts of first-degree child molestation.

A 52-year-old Woonsocket man has been indicted on multiple counts of child molestation plus a charge of indecent exposure.
Attorney General Peter F. Kilmartin said that Michael Powell, 52, of 182 Cumberland St., Woonsocket, was incited by the Providence County Grand Jury on Tuesday.
Powell allegedly molested a girl under 14 in March and April of this year. At the time of his arrest, Woonsocket police said Powell claimed to be teaching the girl, 10, about sex.

According to a police report, Powell told police that in two instances, sexual penetration occurred but were stopped when the girl complained that she was hurting.
Powell is being held without bail at the Adult Correctional Institutions in Cranston and is due to be arraigned on Aug. 12.
