Woonsocket Man Shot by Police after Foot Pursuit
Mitchell Savard, 19, was shot by police behind a building on Read Avenue overnight and is being treated at Rhode Island hospital.
WOONSOCKET, RI—A 19-year-old city man was shot by police behind an apartment building on Read Avenue early Sunday morning after a brief foot pursuit and is now at Rhode Island Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
Police said Michael Savard was shot at around 1:37 a.m. and is facing "pending charges" as he remains in police custody while at the hospital.
The incident is being investigated by Woonsocket police, the state police and the attorney general's office.
