Woonsocket Men Arrested On Oustanding Warrants: State Police

WOONSOCKET, RI – State Police arrested Woonsocket a Woonsocket man on a Woonsocket police warrant for failure to register as a sex offender on Thursday. State Police also arrested a Woonsocket man on an outstanding warrant for failure to appear in court and third offense of driving without a license on Friday.

The Violent Fugitive Task force arrested James Cote, 45, on the sex-offender warrant and he was turned over to the Woonsocket police department.

Troopers on Friday arrested Mitchell Melendez, 33, on a superior court full bench warrant for failure to appear for a cost review on an original charge of possession of a controlled substance originating out of the Providence Police Department. Police said Melendez also had an outstanding warrant for driving without a license/suspended license third offense. Melendez was taken into custody during a traffic stop on Plainfield Street in Providence.

Melendez was taken to State Police Headquarters and turned over the Men's Intake Center of the Adult Correction Institution.
