YWCA Rhode Island names 'Women of Achievement'
annual event recognizes accomplishments of women across industry, culture and public service
YWCA Rhode Island will honor 13 ‘Women of Achievement’ at its eleventh annual awards luncheon on Tuesday, September 29, 2015, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Kirkbrae Country Club in Lincoln.
Since 2005, YWCA has sponsored this statewide recognition of women whose accomplishments span the fields of industry, culture and public service. This year’s recipients are a diverse group that includes veterans, educators, public service officials, non-profit leaders, community volunteers, a performer, a scientist and an organization/volunteer partnership that works to rebuild homes – positively impacting the whole community through rehabilitation of surrounding schools, parks, gardens and nonprofit facilities.
The public is invited to attend. Tickets are $50 per person or reserve a table of 10 for $500. Event underwriting opportunities support YWCA Rhode Island programming and range from $150 to $10,000. Details are available online at www.womenofachievementRI.org.

A volunteer day was coordinated by Rebuilding Together Providence with assistance from volunteers at Honeywell Hometown Solutions. Fall projects were completed at the Central Falls/Pawtucket Campus of YWCA Rhode Island such as building raised garden beds, repairing fences, cleaning up the grounds, painting walls, and hanging new curtains/blinds. Programming on this campus includes ENCOREplus®, a systematic approach to women’s health promotion; Sarah Frances Grant Homestead, permanent supportive housing program for women with disabilities experiencing homelessness; and the YWCA sponsored Sheila “Skip” Nowell Leadership Academy, a public charter high school geared to serve the needs of pregnant and parenting youth and their families.
